Marco Polo Global Restaurant in Salem

Marco Polo serves everything from pasta to Chinese to American, and it all is amazing. The views overlooking the park and fountain outside just add the the overall appeal of this gem in downtown Salem. Simply put, you absolutely get what you pay for here. If you get a bowl of delicious pasta or a plate of crafted Chinese, you won't be disappointed.

Really great Orange Chicken! Loved the peaches and ginger. Very fresh ingredients, big portions, very affordable, super friendly service. Couldn't ask for anything more!

Oh boy. I really wanted to like this place, but I think I will not be coming here again. PROS: great service, fast and friendly. I was served a cup of "cream of dill pickle" soup that reminded me of hot tartar sauce (yuck). Stuffed eggplant was a grease bomb...The Marco Polo Noodles were not crispy as described at all. The garlic green beans were good, but not enough to save the meal. So go here if you need to accommodate special diets and like the old school ambience of this restaurant, but don't expect to be wowed by the food.

We could never tell what type of fare was served here driving by. Took a chance on evening and dropped in. Chinese food primarily. I found a dish I really enjoy, Singapore Noodles. Well prepared, served hot and a generous portion. The menu is very open, an the the term "global" really describes its attempt to appeal to a variety of diners. You can see the facility is dated, and in need of a restoration.

Always a delicious meal. Great service and many amazing vegan/vegetarian options. The vegan gluten free chocolate mint cake is so good. They’ve remodeled a bit and it looks great!

This place is awesome! If you like sweet and sour chicken, you will LOVE this. It is so amazing.

This is probably the best restaurant in town for vegans and vegetarians. There's many options and they even have vegan cake on their menu.They're great all year but their Christmas buffet is truly special. In addition to a host of delicious sides and the aforementioned cake, they made a vegan main course dish that was so good I had two and was uncomfortably full on our walk home. Pic attached.

My waitress Ashley was awesome! She gave us outstanding service while we dined. She helped reccomend a great dish when I was being indecisive and she consistantly checked in on us anytime she passed our booth. She then went above and beyond to mail my purse to me that I left under the booth! I l live over an hour away and did not realize I was missing it until I was home. You are amazing girl! THANK YOU

Really great food! The Chicken Saltimbocca was amazing and it will be hard for me to order anything else next time I go there.

This restaurant is odd. The seating is eclectic. The food is eclectic. The food is varied with lots of things. it comes to mind a jack-of-all-trades but not doing anything well. The food was okay. But served on a plate that was too big everything was at one level. there were five people in our party and we ordered and the food was there in less than 10 minutes. that seems awfully fast unless everything pretty much is pre-prepared and just quickly assembled in the back kitchen. Like I said food was okay didn't taste bad just poorly presented and just not exciting. So much potential and I think it could be better if they narrowed the menu and focused on something and made it really spectacular. We've been here several times over the years and each time just not spectacular.

WOW I am so impressed with this place. The inside is actually really large and has windows all along the walls. It was really cool. They have all sorts of gluten free and vegan options. Including cake!! But what impressed me was my order of Curry Fried Riced Cauliflower with Salmon. It was so yummy.

My wife and I attended the Christmas buffet on Christmas Day. Restaurant was clean, comfortable, and the food was outstanding. Roast beef, turkey, several types of seafood, and many vegan any gluten-free options! This was our first time at Marco Polo, but we'll certainly be back.

This is a rather sprawling restaurant in downtown Salem with an extensive menu of Italian and Asian dishes. We were impressed with the food, as our expectations were exceeded for this family style restaurant. We visited on a week night, so they were not super busy. Service was very good. I had the seafood fettuccine that was wonderful; the seafood was cooked perfectly and was excellent considering that Salem is not on the coast. My partner had the stir fried asparagus, onions, carrots & garlic with shrimp that was cooked to perfection over brown rice that was cooked perfectly. The wine by the glass was reasonably priced and very good. We highly recommend this restaurant.

My brother and I went here for a little outting together. The service was decent, food was excellent especially for such a reasonable price. The atmosphere was pleasing, a reasonable balance between comfort and style. We had a nice window view. This place was in my opinion a wonderful place to take your family on an outing but would also do well for a date that isn't overly expensive and too formal. It is a very welcoming place for stimulating conversation. The food was both beautifully presented as well as tasted exquisite. The service was prompt, however was not all that attentive. If the place were much busier it might have been difficult to track down a waitress. And alsoThem chairs.

Recommend the tofu curry.

Their food is consistently delicious and they serve large portions. My wife loves their gluten free options and they're one of our go-tos for takeout. As the name suggests they have a series of menus that cover major global dining options so they'll usually have something that will spark your fancy.

I can see that they put great effort into everything here, but the food was pretty generic tasting to us.

Wonderful place!! We were coming over from central Oregon to see and celebrate a couple of family birthdays (college guys) and reserved for our small group. Reservations were simple and Dani was pleasant.Food was very, very Good!! Better than we expected for a very versatile menu. Vegetarian options were outstanding! SO many! And the 3 we ordered were delicious!Pasta dishes were fresh tasting and very generous.Soups were very good.Salads were beautiful and FRESH!Wait staff was patient, very attentive (but not overly), accommodating, friendly and knowledgeable. The food was simply great!!!I will go back to this restaurant again.I had the eggplant parmesan and it was the best I've had so far. (Last image)The only real chicken dish pictured is the 3rd, general tso chicken, the others are vegetarian.

Great food, never disappointing. I have celiac disease and have never been poisoned while eating here. I've eaten there several times eating many different dishes. Portions are huge, I usually bring enough back in a box for the next nights dinner.

Date night with my husband tonight. This is the 2nd time we have been to this Restaurant and the food is Fabulous and the service is fantastic!! Definitely another one of our favorite Restaurants in Salem. If you haven't been here yet, we would highly recommend going, you will not be disappointed. Definitely 5 stars!!

Delicious food, nice views. Plenty of options for picky eaters or people with dietary restrictions. I always get general so spicy, my son always wants a grilled cheese. It’s nice to go somewhere that has something for everyone.

We went for a family birthday. The waiter was attentive and knowledgeable. We ordered from both the European and Chinese menus and all of it was amazing as usual. Tried the cream of dill pickle soup and it was so good!

Probably the best global restaurant in Salem. They offer such a wide variety of food that cater to vegetarians and gluten free people. As a person who has been coming to this restaurant for over 15 years I’ve never had anything bad.

When we moved here, (5 years ago), we gave this place a try and we were very disappointed! That being 5 years ago, we decided to go and try again. Will never eat here again! Over priced, small portions, nasty food! STILL!! We will be going to out normal place for Chinese next time! Highly recommend you try somewhere else too!

My favorite Asian restaurant. They have all the Asain styles on each page on menu. I’m gluten free and I love how the put on round plates and gluten on square... nice! Good prices and great food. Nice location, nice scenery. 6 blocks from waterfront carousel.

Best orange chicken I have ever had! The food is delicious, not too expensive, and they have a gluten free menu for my partner. They were so happy to have orange chicken for the first time in years, it's the only place we know of that provides the option of a fully gluten free Chinese style menu. They even give it in a separate bag to avoid gluten contamination! They also offered a fully vegetarian menu option. We ordered to go but the interior looked beautiful and well kept. The staff were kind, personable, and wonderful. It's not close to us, but we definitely plan on taking the 45 min drive to come back and dine in!

This restaurant would even make Chef Ramsey happy! I got the Chicken Saltimbocca and it was absolutely awesome! The staff was delightful and the place was clean and beautiful, despite the busy day they had experienced!

Great place to eat with appropriate social distance between tables. Good service and good food. I had the Orange Chicken on my last visit, loved it.

It is standard Chinese American food. The entrees are well prepared. The service is always friendly, and the place is clean with nice views of the Mill Race. I periodically go there for lunch. The special always includes choice of soup and a nice desert.

Great place for authentic medeteranian/middle eastern food. Full menu of middle eastern dishes. Lamb shwarma gyros are great for a quick lunch.

The food is decent here and I appreciate that they have vegan options, but their staffing confuses me. It seems like they have too many hosts and bussers, and then not enough servers and cooks. What this means is that every time I have been there it seems like they have people just circling the restaurant, meanwhile it takes forever to order and receive my food. With that in mind, takeout is a good plan for this restaurant.

Almost everything about this place was great. I very much enjoyed the General Tso's chicken. All of their dessert options are great, and I love that you can get a lot of non dairy desserts. Probably the best thing is the huge variety of menu options. The only problem is that their prices are a bit high for what you get.

This is my favorite restaurant in Salem. They have such a diverse menu and the food is always next level delicious. The prices are great. Not cheap eats but not pretentiously high. Sit in the bar and have a beautiful view of the city and park. I had the French Steak and a house red. They were both stunning. If I could give them more stars I would. We went during the pandemic and we were seated away from other diners and felt very safe. They wore masks the whole time and I watched as they cleaned off a used table very thoroughly. High standards are exceeded here.

Wonderful restaurant with options for a variety of diets. Nice atmosphere and good service. Vegetarian menus available, vegan items are clearly marked. When our family wants to go to a "fancy" dinner in Salem, we usually go here because everyone can get food that works with their diet. There is a wide selection of foods from different regions of the world (everywhere that Marco Polo travelled), and it's really fun to try different things everytime we go. They will even give you a vegan cookie after your meal.

Without a doubt the worst dining experience my wife and I have had in Salem. We went out for a lunch experience on this first day of daylight savings time and decided to try something new. We were seated and only offered dinner menus. I asked about that and the response was they only do lunch menus on weekdays. I ordered Cashew Chicken and my wife went with a Burger. The Cashew Chicken was the most tasteless food I have had in a restaurant. I mean it, no flavor, no sauce, just veggies, chicken and a pan of rice. The ingredients looked fresh but it was as if they had been steamed with no seasoning or sauce. I was able to eat almost none of it. Fortunately my wife's Burger was a bit better but only marginally. I left my whole meal on the table and my wife left most of hers.The service was poor as well. In fairness I believe she got I was disappointed and just avoided us. We had been wanting to try this place for a while but now we will not be back.

I had a chicken dish (can't recall what exactly) and it was so tender and juicy. It was some of the most heavenly food I've ever had. I went with my family, and their food was delicious too (we all had to try each other's). My mom is on a diet and can't have gluten. They had a special gluten free menu as soon as we came in and at the end when they brought us the fortune cookies, they brought her a gluten free cookie. Best service ever. Loved it and would go again when I have the money. Its not a cheap place but for good reason.

My boyfriend and I went there for the first time today. It was all truly amazing! It was a lovely place, and the food was amazing. My boyfriend is Lactose in tolerant and we felt like ordering dessert, so we went with the Mint Chocolate Cake that was Gluten Free/Vegen. It was rich, but boy was it delicious! We'll definitely be going back.

Service was prompt and friendly. The war wonton soup they bought me was not like any war wonton soup I have had before. It is as though the cook kind of faked it because he didn't have a recipe. I have had good experiences there before and will go back. I just won't order war wonton soup.
